Pensioners Association vow to follow Anna lines if demands not heeded

Jammu, Aug 29: An emergency meeting of Pensioners Association was held under the chairmanship of Mukand Lal Sharma, senior leader. The prominent members who addressed the meeting were M.L. Abrol, general secretary, Sardhari Lal, Vidyia Sarar, S.D. Verma, Balwan Singh, Joginder Singh, Asa Singh, K.L Bharti, K.L. Gupta, S. Mohinder Singh, Harbans Singh and others.
The Pensioners Association celebrated Ann Hazare’s victory and also congratulated him who fought against corruption and Lok Pal Bill in the Parliament which adopt “Sense of the House” agreeing to Hazare’s three key demands that have been sent to standing committee on Lok Pal Bill.

General Secretary Madan Lal Abrol said that Pensioners and employees of the state have been struggling for more than two years in connection with their problems in relating to the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission, but unfortunately the state government has shown no reasonable response to this “time and at the same time the government” enhanced the salary of the Legislators with three times hike and perks amounting to more than ninety thousands rupees per months more over the medical allowance enhanced Rs. 300 pm to Rs. 1000/- pm
Abrol said that the attitude of the government of giving priority to the Legislatures and giving them enormous amount of emoluments and showing utter neglect to the pensioners and employees.

Abrol said that intentional delay on the part of the state government towards the pensioners and employees is highly condemnable.
He warned the government in case the state government fails to accede the demands of the pensioners and employees in the near future the concerned will launch an aggressive agitation like Anna Hazare through out the length and breadth of state.

Abrol announced that association has decided to organise protest rallies on September 4 at Kathua, September 11 at Hiranagar on September 17 at Akhnoor.
The main demands include that the arrears of the revision of pension w.e.f. 01-01-2006 to 30-06-2009 be paid in cash; total arrears be given in one to the pensioner and employees in one installment and the additional quantum of the pension in favour of state pensioners, after training the age of 80, 85, 90, 100 years and above @ 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% and 100% on the analogy of Central government older pensioners.
