PNB opens accounts of casual labourers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Aug 29: In its drive to bring all casual labourers in the Banking fold, Punjab National Bank today opened accounts of casual labourers working under 57 RCC BRO Akhnoor. In a simple function held at the office of 57 RCC BRO Akhnoor, Ashok Gupta, deputy general manager, Circle Head J&K Operations delivered pass books & ATM cards to 100 labourers. Addressing the gathering, Gupta informed the participants that once the ATM cards are put to use, every labourer shall automatically get an accidental insurance cover of Rs. 2 lakhs totally free of cost. He also informed the gathering that more than ten thousand labourers including jughi-jhompadi dwellers have been covered by the Bank through the system of ICT based financial inclusion in the state. This system allows the depositor to use smart card for drawing money from various locations in and around his/her area of work or dwelling from swipe machines set up through technical collaboration with M/s Fino. Ashok Gupta also thanked Col. Raman Kumar SV from 57 RCC BRO Akhnoor for extending whole hearted cooperation in opening these accounts. S S Chib, district coordinator, Neeraj Anand, manager security, Sanjay Koul manager BO Akhnoor, Gurmeet Singh manager marketing & a large number of people were present at the function. |
