Ahead of Eid, Eidgah submerged with water | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Aug 29 (KNS): Authorities have submerged historical Eidgah here with water to thwart Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid’s programme to organize Eid prayers in the Eidgah, reports said. Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq told KNS that Eidgah was flooded with water in the last two days. “We are at loss to understand where from this water came. This is an attempt to thwart our programme to hold Eid Nimaz in the Eidgah,” Miwaiz told KNS. However, Waqaf Board Chairman, M Y Qadri denied the allegations. “It is impossible that authorities will flood the eidgah with water. The water might have accumulated due to recent rainfall,” he told KNS. Asked whether it was possible to hold Eid prayers in Eidgah, Qadri said, “We will try our best to make the Eidgah ready for prayers. If weather improves then there is a possibility. |
