| Samba faces Udhampur in U-17 football final | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, August 28: District Samba shall take on district Udhampur in the final of under-17 boys’ football tournament for Subroto Mukerjee Cup, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at GGM Science College ground, here tomorrow.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, Udhampur blanked district Kathua 3-0. Sheru (13th), Gourav (17th) and Lakhwinder (20th) were the scorers from winners Udhampur district. In other semifinal, Samba outplayed district Poonch by five goals to nil in a one-sided contest. Leading by 3-0 at the end of first half play, Samba boys maintained their dominance and added two more goals thereby making it a big 5-0 win. Sunil and Vikas scored two goals each while Bunty added one.
Meanwhile, in under-14 final, Jammu district shall be playing against district Rajouri tomorrow.
The winner in both the age groups shall be representing Jammu Division at the state level. And, the winner at the state level will represent the state in the Subroto Cup to be held at Delhi.
