| EC seeks reports of Kishanganga HE Project | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Aug 29:
Environment Committee (EC) of Legislative Assembly today asked the District Development Commissioner, Bandipora who is also Nodal Officer for Kishan Ganga Hydro Electric Project (KGHEP) to furnish all the details about Kishan Ganga Hydro Electric Project within two months for its examination.
The Committee, which met here under the Chairmanship of Nizamu-ud-Din Bhat discussed in detail the ongoing work of KGHEP besides the damage likely to be caused on environment, roads, PHE sector, fisheries etc on account of its execution.
Legislators, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, Mr. Mohammad Khalil Band, S Rafeeq Hussain Khan, Sham Lal Choudhary, Syed Bashir Ahmed, Abdul Razak Wagay, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Baldev Raj gave their suggestions for improvement of the project.
Commissioner/Secretary, PDD, Basharat Ahmad Dhar, Commissioner/Secretary, Forest, Shantmanu, concerned officers from NHPC, HCC and state officers gave details about working of the Project including the relief and rehabilitation of the affected. |
