UNITY IN DIVERSITY | | KHUSHWANT S RANIAL | 8/29/2011 11:51:00 PM |
| The social movement launched by Anna Hazare ,which evoked huge public response all across the India ,against the wide spread corruption and further to control it , pressed the government to enact the strong LokPal Bill is truly an eye opener for the whole of the world that’ United we stand ,divided we fall’ . There is nothing difficult to achieve in this world provided there is a will to fight from the core of the heart .What is required is only small stepping to begin with for a genuine a cause ,rest God helps those who helps themselves in initiating the process. Our country had been rocked by outnumbered scandals /scams in the recent past and looting of the national exchequer by the alleged representatives of the people, had perhaps taken it for granted that there is no potent personality in whole of India like astute Mahatma Gandhiji to check and foil their nefarious and evil designs but the crusade of Civil society led by social activists Anna Hazare banking on the tool of the Gandhian mode of non violencein has given them a shocking reply through consensual opposition that how much people of India have got fed up of this ever increasing rampant corruption . The grown scenario over last two weeks in the Ram lila ground in New Delhi has definitely proved beyond doubt that people now want a sea change and honest people to come forward to govern the nation for providing a clean atmosphere, corrupt free administration to reign, for healthy growth and development of both the state and society. But this is possible only if we all the people of India do pledge at the individual level that neither we will support corruption by giving corruption and nor see anyone else to accept the corruption. Only Anna Hazare alone cannot do wonders to eradicate it as claimed by the social activists himself . Rest it would be unworthy on our part to be contended with the emerged surrender of the government before the civil society members because this is an end of a short battle ,war has yet to be waged to clean the system . We have to remain more vigilant about the outcome of the standing committee’s report/ recommendations and an evolved consensus to emerge out of the discussion for final drafting of the Bill for its future enactment and implementation. Till then ,the picture looking rosy cannot be claimed to be rosy enough to glitter to take pride in of the laid out efforts in awakening the slept senses of the government. Last but not the least ,the most formidable thing which definitely has made us feel proud that Unity of India undeniably stands in Diversity for our opponents to hold breathe to think twice before contemplating and formulating any idea of encroaching our domain without our permission from any porous region to attack. Our opinions may differ but when it matters to our personal safety and security, we least bother about our relations irrespective of the fact that how much dearer they may be. Also ,at least, the entire drama which lasted for 13 long days have exposed the position of leaders of our opposition who stood by lip service alone. It also proved to the public that there interests are the same irrespective of the fact that they may be sailing in the different ships. The urgent need of the hour is to introspect and select the competent one who really hold the vision and wish to serve the nation by sacrificing one’s personal interests and hold lofty ideas to push nation forward through his deeds and not by mere glib tongue service. Further there is also necessity to bring a resolution to make it mandatory for every citizen to cast one’s vote regardless of any complications. For that, stamping on the ration card at the time of election and voting to one’s candidate must take place, to accrue future benefit through the use of one’s ration card .Apart, imposing strict restrictions like no trade of any movable objects/property may take place should be held for those who do not show cast their votes deliberately . Until severe steps are not initiated, till then we cannot hope to have a miracle to stem the corruption. At present, those who are well-off barely value the cost of their vote and the abject of surrender of the poorer who are, the larger segment of our population are carried away by the politicians through the use of money and muscle power, leaving much scope for the crooked elements to win by illicit means and govern upon for us for five years. The remedy lies in the electoral reforms for which Anna Hazare has now hinted to fight to push reforms like “right to recall” elected representatives and the ‘ right to reject’ all candidates on the ballot paper. In short ,this approach and idea of Anna sounds very nice but he should not let his spirit die and defused by promptly jumping to different causes at one go.
