| Police fails to restore JDA land back, team returns blank | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 29: The men in khaki have the principal duty to maintain law & order and ensure security of the general public with their grit, determination and vigilant eyes.
However, today's incident at Gol Gujral exhibited that even the police sometimes buckles under pressure.
It may sound strange but it is true that a police contingent assisting Jammu Development Authority (JDA) officials to vacate a piece of land in Gol Gujral area proved weak kneed as it could not bear the desired result.
The police team miserably failed to vacate the land from the clutches of encroachers as it face stiff resistance from land grabbers.
The buckling of police under pressure led to its virtual running away from the spot
The police which went there as a protection to JDA team to restore back the land from encroachers escaped from the spot leaving JDA officials high and dry. Later the JDA team also rushed from the spot leaving the illegal construction intact.
The incident took place at Gol Gujral Camp near Revenue department complex where a JDA team rushed to release the government land from encroachers. A police team led by SDPO Domana also accompanied the JDA team to get the encroached piece of land evacuated. But as soon as the Police and JDA team reached the spot, encroachers rounded them with sticks and stones.
Sensing trouble police team escaped from the spot leaving JDA team at the hand of mercy of God. The JDA officers later returned blank. A JDA officer seeking anonymity said that they were failed to restore back government land from the clutches of encroachers because SDPO escaped from the spot later his men also disappeared from the scene. |
