Massive scooter rally by BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Aug 29:- Further intensifying its state-wide campaign launched against corruption, black-money and price-rise, Jammu District Unit of BJP under district president Rajesh Gupta took out a massive scooter rally. It started from Janipur chowk and after passing through Jammu city, culminated at Gole Market of Gandhi Nagar area. State president Shamsher Singh Manhas, who led this rally, while addressing the party activists and the public gathering at Gole Market, said that BJP has been continously raising the important issues of corruption, black-money and price-rise by organizing programmes of different modes through out the country with a motive to present the real picture to the masses and the role of the Congress in particular in such issues. He said that corruption in the country has become a dangerous disease and every Indian citizen is affected by it. He said that the ever increasing prices of the essential commodities too has created problems for the common citizens and posed threat to their survival as they are not in a position to even manage 2-time meal for them. Thousands of crores of Indian money has been illegally stashed in foreign banks and the government is not serious towards bringing the same back in India, he said and declared that the party will continue to raise these issues in the parliament as well as on the roads. He also referred to the corruption cases in the state which are pending disposal because of a non-functional State Accountability Commission and a weak state vigilance organization. Reacting sharply on the state CM’s announcement to release Rs. 1 lakh for each Panchayat, Manhas said that without giving full powers to the Panchayats the mechanism to spend this fund will remain with the government, which negates the very purpose of strengthening the democracy at gross roots level. Reiterating party’s demand to implement the 73rd amendment in the state, Manhas said that this provision empowers the panchayats to identify the works to be undertaken and the funds to be utilized. True empowerment of panchayats is possible only when there is no interference from Chief Minister are the political leadership following the implementation of 73rd amendment.
