| Renovation of Abhinav theatre demanded | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Aug 29: Duggar Manch, carried out a protest dharna here today at the premises of Abhinav Theatre complex under the leadership of writer-artist Mohan Singh, demanding immediate renovation of Abhinav' Theatre.
Abhinav Theatre was opened for cultural activities just 32 year back in 1979. Now the condition of this unique and remarkable auditorium is horribly bad and miserable, said Mohan Singh adding that roof of the auditorium is covered with tent material which is inadequate to stop rain water in the hall.
Air conditioner has also been damaged with the negligence of authorities. All green rooms and guest rooms attached with Abhinav Theatre are illegally occupied by the staff of regional office.
All this seems a part of deep rooted conspiracy against Jammu people. Culture policy has not been framed till date, he said.
Large number of writers and artists joined the protest dharna and raised slogans in support of their just and genuine demands. Among the prominent, Narsingdev Jamwal, Shiv Dev Singh -Sushil, Dhi.an Singh, Hussain, Sushil Sharma Gianeshwar, Hari Chand Ja1meria Uday Chand, Janak Khajuria and Kumar A Bharti were present.
Protesting writers and artists were demanding immediate renovation of Abhinav Theatre in all respect within fifteen days failing which a broader agitation will be launched in the support of demands.
They further demanded that president of Cultural Academy should be from veteran writers and artists who can solve the problems of this community and tenure of president should not exceed three or four year. Trifurcation of academy was also one of the demands.
