BCP protests general amnesty to stone pelters | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 29: Bhartiya Chaitanya Party (BCP), protested the ‘double standards’ of the Chief Minister, in announcing general amnesty to all the stone pelters arrested during the summer unrest last year.
State President of BCP Rohit Bali said that we are not against the leniency towards our misguided brothers from the valley. But we wonder why such gestures never come for the people of Jammu. For example when the agitation for rights at Amarnath shrine was going on many Jammu people were arrested and even PSA was imposed on few. But our CM never showed any leniency towards them. Why?
He said that such double standards are at further dividing the people which is not good for the future of our state. Today there are more Muslims in Indian than there are in Pakistan. They are all our brothers but the govt. should not play the narrow vote bank politics.
In sharp contrast to the agitations in the two regions, the agitation in Jammu was filled with the spirit of nationalism whereas the misguided youth in Kashmir was swayed by the anti-nationalist feelings.
He said that such misguided youth should be properly educated, their grievances should be addressed and if they accept rest of India they should be given a chance to be brought to the main stream. Can the Chief Minister assure us that all the released Youth will not take any undue advantage of this amnesty?
He also said that it is also surprising that the BJP is totally silent on the issue since people selected 11 MLAs from BJP after the agitation in Jammu.
