JPU elects new body | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 29: Jammu Photographers Union (JPU), Jammu Province, has elected the new body following elections to elect office bearers of the Union were held here at Hotel Savoy, Residency Road. Photographers from all over Jammu province including Kishtwar, Doda, Udhampur, Katra and other areas took part. Gulshan Chargotra was elected as President by defeating his nearest rival Dwarka Nath by 35 votes. Chargotra has been elected president for the second consecutive term.
Among other office bearers of the Union elected were Narinder Bali as General Secretary, who defeated his opponent Sunil Rehan by 55 votes and Pushpinder Sharma as Cashier, who defeated Sanjeev Bakshi by 30 votes.
The elections were held in a peaceful atmosphere under the supervision of Election' Commissioners, Anoop Uppal and Manohar Lal, alias Bittu.
Newly elected President and General Secretary of the Union have been authorized to appoint other office bearers as early as possible.
Speaking on the occasion, Gulshan Kumar assured the photographers that he will do his best to solve the difficulties being faced by them in the profession and urged for cooperation from them.
He also lauded the role of Police for their support in peaceful conduct of elections and hoped for the same in future as well.
On this occasion, some photographers, who have been elected as Sarpanchs and Panchs in recent Panchayat elections in Jammu province, were also facilitated by the Union.
