Silver Jubilee Celebrations of SMVDSB | Guv pays obeisance at Holy Shrine; reviews development projects | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Aug 30: Governor, N N Vohra today visited the Holy Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and participated in the Pooja which had been organized in connection with the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB). The Governor, who is the Chairman of the Shrine Board, performed puran ahuti, paid obeisance at the Sanctum Sanctorum and prayed for peace and prosperity of the State. Dr. Sudhir S Bloeria, Member of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, B R Sharma, Principal Home Secretary, B B Vyas, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Sudhanshu Panday, Commissioner/Secretary, Finance, R. K. Goyal, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, Dr. Mandeep Bhandari, Additional CEO and all the Board officials who were present on the occasion, participated in the special Pooja. Dr. Bloeria, Sharma, Vyas and Panday are among those who have served the Shrine Board in the past years. The Chairman had discussions with all of them and the present CEO and Additional CEO, to obtain their views and suggestions about several milestone projects which are being taken up during the Silver Jubilee Year (2011-12). The Governor was earlier received at Sanjichhat by R K Goyal, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, Dr. Mandeep Bhandari, Additional CEO of the Board, Jagjit Kumar, DIG Udhampur-Reasi, P K Pole, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, concerned Board Officers and others. The Governor laid the foundation stones of a Pony Stand and the New Locker Complex in the Bhawan area to augment the facilities for the visiting pilgrims and the ponywallahs. The 4-storey Pony Stand, to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.57 crore, will provide space for about 350 ponies. The 4-storey New Locker Complex, estimated to cost Rs. 2.40 crore, will provide about 3000 Lockers. The Chairman issued instructions to the Engineering Wing to ensure the completion of both these projects within 12-15 months. While on way from Sanji Chhat to the Holy Cave, the Governor reviewed the progress on the ongoing plantation drive. He emphasized the need for planting additional flowering saplings to further beautify the area. |
