MIER organizes lecture on “Nature of Educational Research” | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Aug 30: P. K. Sahoo, Dean & Head, Department of Education, Allahabad Central University delivered a lecture to M.Ed. students of P. G. Department of the MIER College of Education.
The theme of the guest lecture was “The Nature of Research in Education”.
Renu Gupta, Director MIER Group of Institutions chaired the session. Other distinguished guests present were Adit Gupta Joint Director, B. L. Raina H.O.D. P.G. Department of Education, D. R. Kapoor HOD Centre for Educational Research and other faculty members of M.Ed. and B.Ed. departments.
Adit Gupta while welcoming the guest speaker highlighted the contribution of Sahoo in the field of education and teaching.
B L Raina introduced the distinguished speaker and highlighted the contribution of Sahoo in the field of educational research. Sahoo had his professional growth from Kurukshetra University to M S University Baroda to Allahabad Central University.
Raina described him as an embodiment of scholarship. Sahoo has contributed about 300 papers and about two dozen books on diverse topics in education.
He deliberated upon the nature of research in education in India and tried the development of research activity from sensory perception to inductive logic and deductive logic.
He described educational phenomena as natural in which physical realities depend upon interaction of stimuli and response between and among different variables.
He further explained the differences between scientific method, social science approach and the critical scientific approach to research and how these lead to continuous generation of new ideas, new knowledge and new actions to build a new theory.
He illustrated his ideas by giving examples from everyday life.
A lively interaction followed in which students queries were dealt with by Sahoo in a succinct manner.
