JMC conducts drive on eve of Eid-ul-Fitr | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 30: Health Officer Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) along with team of Food Safety Officers conducted an exclusive drive to check the quality of food items on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr festival and inspected about 150 of food establishments.
The food establishments including Meat & Chicken Shops, Sweet Shops, Cooked food Dhabas / Restaurants, Milk & Milk Product Shops, Bakery Shops were checked.
The drive was conducted in the areas of Hari Market, Raghunath Bazar, Kanak Mandi, Talab Khatikan, Prem Nagar, Gujjar Nagar, New Plot, Sarwal, Mohalla Ustad, Narwal, Malik Market, Gandhi Nagar etc.
During the inspection 35 defaulters were booked under the provisions of J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000 and an amount of Rs 11200 charged as fine from the defaulters on spot. Further, all the food establishment owners are strictly warned to keep their premises neat and clean for ensuring supply of pure & good quality of food items to the customers.
Besides this, the team also reviewed the Sanitation work going on in these areas especially around the mosques where the Namaz of Eid-ul-Fitr shall be offered.
The drive was held under special instructions from Commissioner JMC, S C Sawhney.
