| Jugal demands tehsil status for Pouni, Behmag | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
REASI, Aug 30: Senior Congress leader and former Minister Jugal Kishore Sharma today demanded Tehsil status for Pouni and Behmag areas in Reasi constituency as per the recommendations of Bloeria committee.
Addressing a meeting of the newly elected Panches and Sarpanches of different blocks of Reasi constituency at Panchyat Kheralaid Block- Pouni , Jugal Kishore said that according to the suggestions given by Bloeria committee in which it was decided that Pouni Block and Behmag will be given status of Tehsil and Katra will be given the status of Sub Division but these decisions are still pending and need to be implemented.
Not only was these but the other major suggestions of Bloeria Committee are also pending and need felt for their urgent implementation, he added
On the occasion, Jugal Kishore congratulated the victorious Panches and Sarpanches and honoured them.
He said that we welcome the announcement of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who has announced a grant of Rs1 lakh for each Panchayat, however, this is a meagre amount and not sufficient as at least 8-10 wards are covered under each Panchayat.
In the meeting all members pressed upon the government that the grant should be enhanced at least up to Rs 10 lakh.
The meeting appealed the government to release the compensation in favour of the farmers who have to suffer due to recent heavy rainfall.
The meeting said farmers are under great financial burden as the standing crops in the state have been damaged due to heavy rain.
Prominent among those who were present in the meeting were District President Congress Reasi Pritam Singh, Youth President Congress Reasi Amit Sharma and Block President Congress- Pouni, Ajeet Kumar.
