14 teachers training colleges de-affiliated in J-K

Jammu, Aug 30 Jammu and Kashmir government has cancelled affiliation of 14 elementary teachers training institutes for their alleged poor performance. After inspection of the ETT institutes and colleges in Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts, poor maintenance and performance of some of the colleges came to light, leading to their de-affiliation with immediate effect. A notification in this regard was issued by the Director Academics, Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education, Ghulam Hassan Malik today. As per the notification, 10 institutes in Kathua and two each in Jammu and Samba districts were de-affiliated. They have been asked to upgrade their facilities and performance if they are desirous of seeking fresh affiliations with Board of School Education (BOSE), Malik said.

HC denies bail to housing board MD
JAMMU, Aug 30: High court judge, Justice Hasnain Massodi today dismissed the pre-arrest bail application of ex-JKPCC general manager Daleep Thusoo who now holds the charge of housing board managing director (MD).
He is alleged to be involved in multi-crore Pul-Doda scam. Rejecting CMP for interim pre-arrest bail, Justice Hasnain Massodi observed that the petitioner, apprehending arrest by the state vigilance organization in connection with a case FIR No 15/2011 had filed the application for the grant of anticipatory bail and also filed CMP for interim measure, seeking interim pre-arrest bail.
He observed that after going through the petition and hearing counsels for the parties, the court was of the opinion that matter needed an indepth examination and case for interim pre-arrest bail was not made out. The application was accordingly dismissed, the court directed.
However, dismissal of instant application would not have any impact on the case projected in bail application, the court ordered.

SVO presents challan against patwari in graft case
JAMMU, Aug 30: The state vigilance organization (SVO) today presented challan in the court of special judge, anti-corruption, Jammu, against Krishan Lal, patwari Tulli Bana in Mahore, Reasi, who was caught red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant.
According to the SVO case, Ghulam Hassan lodged a complaint with SVO, alleging therein that Krishan Lal had demanded Rs 5,000 from him for issuing papers for making state subjects of his children.
Acting on the complaint, SVO laid a trap and caught the patwari red-handed while accepting bribe.
