| Register all illegal connection | | DRC of LC to PDD in J&K | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Aug 30 : Concerned over the illegal power connection and less recovery of power tariff in the Jammu and Kashmir, the Departmental Related Committee (DRC) of Legislative Council (LC) has directed the Power Development Department (PDD) to gear up the field functionaries and ensure registration of all left out households.
An official spokesman said here today that taking a serious note of less registration of illegal power connections and power tariff, the DRC of LC which met under the Chairmanship of MLC B R Kundal has asked the PDD authorities to gear up the field functionaries and ensure registration of all left out households of the State so that good revenue could be generated.
Discussing problems faced by the department due to shortage of staff, the Committee recommended engagement of additional staff for the smooth functioning of the department.
It also suggested for provision of grants for maintenance of electric appliances to meet out the public demands if required.
Principal Secretary, PDD Bashrat Ahmad Dhar informed the meeting that adequate quantity of electric poles, wires and transformers are available with the department.
