| Jammu, Udhampur win U-14 football title | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, August 30: Host Jammu district and visiting Udhampur boys clinched under-14 and under-17 titles respectively in the inter-district divisional level football tournament for Subroto Cup played at GGM Science College ground, here today.
In the under-14 final, Jammu district, represented by MHAC Nagbani School, blanked Rajouri (Boys Higher Secondary School Nowshera) 6-0. Kajal Singh made it a big win netting three goals in the 15th, 16th and 36th minute of the match. Sahil Mallan (5th) and Sahil Kumar (12th and 25th) were other scorers.
Only two districts took part in under-14 event, resulting into direct final between Jammu and Samba
Later, in the under-17 final, district Udhampur outplayed Samba by three goals to nil. Shanu was star striker with two goals scored in 6th and 37th minute while Aditya contributed one in the 50th minute of the match. In this age group, five districts of Poonch, Udhampur, Kathua, Rajouri and Samba contested for the top honours.
Today’s finals were officiated by Bharat Bhushan Khajuria, Mohinder Singh, Gagan Kumar, Rohit Gupta and Harbinder Kour.
In the finals and prize distribution function, Director Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Jai Pal Singh was chief guest, who gave away medals and trophies to winners and runners-up teams.
Udhampur team disqualified
The visiting team in under-14 age group from district Udhampur was disband after 10 of the 16 members of the team were found overage by the registration committee yesterday. Only six boys were falling in the required age group resulting the organizers sent the boys back home without play.
