Prisons Deptt bids affectionate adieu to Anjum | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Aug 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Prisons Department organized a function to bid farewell to M A Anjum, Inspector General of Police, Prisons at Nigeen Club here toady. Who is superannuating August, 31 2011. Additional Director General of Police Armed/Law & Order, K.Rajendra Kumar, Inspectors General of Police Mr. S.M.Sahai, Mr. Zahoor Hussain Chesti, Farooq Ahmed, Mohd Amin Shah, H.K.Lohia, Rouf-ul-Hassan, officers of the Home Department and officials of Prisons Headquarters were present on the occasion. Deputy Inspector General Prisons, Mohd Sultan Lone welcomed the guests and summarized the achievements of Mr Anjum. He described Anjum as a committed and professional Police Officer. He listed out the sensitive assignments held by the officer and recognitions received by him during the service career. K.Rajendra Kumar and S.M.Sahai described Mr Anjum as a very competent Police Officer with qualities of leadership and unmatched professional acumen. Both officers shared their career experience while working with Mr Anjum. Anjum in his address, deliberated on his experiences of 34 years long service in different wings of Police. He said that “working in Prisons Department was a challenge which I handled with the assistance of my colleagues efficiently.It was because of close association with the Prisons Officers that i successfully carried forward the projects and works initiated by my predecessors and also chalked out and implemented new activities”. He wished good luck to the Prisons Department and Officers and men responsible to run it. Anjum also presented a gift cheque to a retiring official of Prisons Department Latief Ahmed, on this occasion. The initiative of honouring retiring police officers/officials was taken by Mr Anjum only, on his joining the Jammu and Kashmir Prisons department.
