Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated with religious fervour, gaiety

JAMMU, Aug 31:
Like other parts of the country the Eid-Ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across the Jammu region.
All the Mosques were fully decorated befitting the occasion by the devotees.
The main function was held at Eidgah at Residency Road where Minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather, Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik, Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmed Khan and Minister of State for Rural Development, Ajaz Ahmed Khan performed prayers and prayed for peace, welfare, development and prosperity of the state.
Congratulating the people of the state on this auspicious occasion, Rather appreciated the people of state for maintaining brotherhood and communal harmony. He prayed for peace and prosperity of the state and hoped that peace may solve the problems prevailing in the state.
On the occasion Muslim brothers exchanged wishes sweets and gifts with the people from all walks of life.
Markets witnessed huge rush of people purchasing sweets, gifts, clothes. On this occasion people of all sections of society participated in the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr and prayed for the peace and prosperity of the state and the country.
Tight security arrangements were also made on the all the prominent places of the city for hassle-free Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.
Prominent citizens, various social/political organizations extended Eid greeting to their Muslim brethren through out the city.
People flooded markets and purchased assorted items, including delicacies, and colourful garments.
Roadside ‘bazaars’ sprang up to woo shoppers with mutton, poultry, bakery products, sweets, ready-made garments and toys.
Attired in colourful dresses, children asked for ‘Eidi’ from the relatives while people exchanged sweets and gifts among friends and loved ones.
The Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the Islamic fasting month of Ramzan, was celebrated with due solemnity and religious fervour in Doda.
Muslims in large numbers offered special Eid prayers at Eid Gah Doda.
Children, in colourful new dresses, exchanged gifts and visited their relatives and received Eidi (gifts mainly in cash) from their elders.
The programme in the Eid Gah Doda was started with the recitation of Holy Quran and thereafter various children read out the Naats before the start of Eid Nimaz.
Speaking on the occasion Imam Jamia Masjid Doda Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy said Eid-ul-Fitr is a special gift of Allah to those who keep month long fast and engage themselves in prayers and spiritual cleanliness as per His commandments.
However, similar kinds of Eid celebration was also celebrated across the District including Bhaderwah, Ghat, Bhagwah and others parts of the District with great religious and enthusiastic fervour.
District Police has also made special security arrangements during the occasion.
Indian and Pakistani troops today exchanged greetings and sweets along the Line of Control (LoC) at Chakan-Da-Bagh crossing point in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The Pakistan army officials were led by Commandant of 11th Baloch Regiment, Colonel Umar Gul and Major Matloob, while the Indian side was led by Colonel D P Cristopher.
The flag meeting, which lasted for an hour, was held in a cordial atmosphere.
Similarly, BSF officers met Pak Chinab Rangers at a Octerio border out post along the international border in R S Pura sub-sector in Jammu district and exchanged greetings on the occasion.
Like in other parts of the state, Eid-ul-Fitar was also celebrated in Kishtwar District with religious favour. The main Eid Nimaz was held at Chowghan ground in which more than 20000 people from Kishtwar town and its adjoining places participated. On this occasion, beside Immam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo, separatist leaders like Ghulam Nabi Gundna and Molvi Abdul Qayoom also address the gather. Moulvi Abdul Qayoom also read out the fax statement of separatist leader Shabir Ahmed Shah in which he vowed for continue its struggle for right to self determination. The message also condemned the use of brutal force against the people in Kashmir and also demanded for probe into the unidentified graves in Kashmir as was stated to NHRC. Moulvi Abdul Qayoom as well as Ghulam Nabi Gundna also pays the rich tribute to the persons killed in police action last year and also condemned the recent statement of New and Renewable Resource Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah at Ahmedabad Gujarat.

Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious faith and fervour here in Poonch district today.
Main congregation of Muslim brethren accumulated in Eidgah Poonch where Imam of Central Jamia Masjid, Khateeb Mohd. Farooq Misbani delivered “Khutbah” where in aims and object of Eid-ul-Fitr and exercise imparted during Ramzan were highlighted in depth.
MLA Poonch Ajaz Ahmed also offered Eid Nimaz among other muslim brethren in Eidgah.
Other Eid-ul-Fitr congregation took place at Jamia Masjid Baghialian, Mandi, Surankote and Mendhar tehsils. District Administration had made elaborate arrangements of water and power supply, security, medicare, traffic management etc
