| Land Resources Conservation seminar organized at Reasi | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
REASI, Aug 31: A One Day Seminar on ‘Land Resources Conservation’ was organized by NGO Umang Nehru Youth Club, Reasi at village Gran Morh in Reasi district for SHGs and farmers sponsored by J&K State Land Use Board, Deptt of Agriculture Jammu to aware the people about the importance of conservation of land resources.
Joint Director SLUB C S Bhagat inaugurated the seminar whereas Chief Agriculture Officer, Reasi R K Safaya presided over.
More than 100 farmers of Gran Morh and adjoining villages attended the seminar.
Bhagat stressed upon the farmers to make judicious use of the land resources to save the same for survival of future generations. He warned about the fragmentation of the land holdings of the farmers leading to the decrease in production. He presented the whole scenario of land resources and suggested different methods and techniques of conserving them.
R K Safaya also advised the farmers to go for diversification of agriculture to get more and more out of the available small land holdings. He also stressed upon to plant more and more trees and grasses to control erosion especially on sloppy lands and hilly areas.
Sham Lal President of NGO in his welcome address appreciated the role of SLUB in highlighting the issue of prohibition of conversion of agriculture land for non Agriculture purposes and awareness thereof in far off district such as Reasi and highlighted the problems of the village in respect of soil and water conservation.
