'Kashmiri Pandits Ready to Return if Townships Set Up' | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu | Aug 31, 2011 A body representing Kashmiri Pandits today said that they are ready to return to the Valley provided at least three townships are set up there to accommodate them. "Kashmiri Pandit migrants are ready to return to the Valley provided at least three townships are set up in Anantnag, Srinagar and Baramulla districts to accommodate 25,000 families in each on them," S L Pandita, president of Jagti Tenement Committee, said here. Pandita, who is one of the residents of newly constructed Jagti Township for Kashmiri migrants in Jammu, said that rehabilitation of migrants in their native villages and towns is not possible because of the security reasons. He demanded that these townships must be declared Assembly constituencies and reserved for Pandits in the Valley. Pandita also sought compensation to the migrant Pandits, traders, increase in the monthly cash assistance and restoration of religious properties and shrines.
