England, Canada wrestlers to take part in 'Mission Dosti' dangal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 1:Wrestlers from England and Canada would be the centre of attraction in this year’s ‘Mission Dosti’ wrestling competition to be held during upcoming annual Navratra festival at Katra. This is for the first time that the grapplers apart from India and Pakistan are taking part in the competition. Like previous years, ‘Mission Dosti’ bouts will be hosted at Katra on October 2 during Navratra festival and apart from India and Pakistani grapplers, the wrestlers from England and Canada will also participate, president Jammu and Kashmir Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma said. Sharma informed that nine grapplers from Pakistan, three from England and two Canadian wrestlers would be taking part in different weight categories. Sharma further sad that famous Indian wrestler of yesteryears Dara Singh would be a special invitee on the occasion while Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will inaugurate the dangal. He further said from Pakistan renowned wrestlers Jaman Anwar (100 kg), Ahmad Bhat (120 kg), Malik Mohammad Saleem (100 kg), Shahid Mehmood (100 kg), Yusuf Riyaz (130 kg), Pappu (70 kg), Israr Hussain (100 kg), Mohammad Riyaz (90 kg), Mohammad Ali Iqbal (95 kg) would be taking part while from England, Jatinder Singh Rakhra (60 kg), Philip Robert (74 kg) and Leon Ratigan (96 kg) besides two from Canada would be gracing the occasion. Sharma added that Rs 1 lakh, a silver ‘gurj’ and a ‘patta’ would be given to the winner followed by Rs 75,000, Rs 51,000, Rs 31,000 and Rs 21,000 for the second, third, fourth and fifth places. All the bouts will be decided on Round Robin pattern, he said
