BSNL fast losing credibility among its users | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Sep 1: There is a widespread resentment over the poor service of state owned telecom operator BSNL in Jammu. Even after continuous efforts one can not contact the desired mobile number due to snags, hurdles or breakups in the network system. For the last few days the situation has become even worse, with subscribers of BSNL facing frequent call drop, lack of proper signal. In the recently introduced number portability, where one can change operator without changing number, BSNL was the worst hit, with lacs, of subscribers shifting to other operators. In J&K, BSNL has large number of subscribers than in any part of the country. But unfortunately BSNL has not anything to hold its subscriber base. The network is becoming worst with every passing day. “My business has taken a worst hit due to poor service of BSNL. As many of my clients opted for other distributors finding my cellphone either not reachable or getting the message ‘this number is switched off’, rued businessman Naresh Gupta. “Yesterday there was an emergency in my house as my mother fell unconscious. I immediately shifted her to casualty of GMC. In the process I called my friends and relatives number of times but the call was not through. After 5-6 hours of continuously trying I was able to make contact with one of my friend. As soon I get discharged from the hospital, the first task I will do is to apply for number portability”, said Sunil Arora a resident of Trikuta Nagar. Meanwhile Y V Sharma President Chamber of Commerce & Industry expressed strong resentment with the working of BSNL Mobile facility. Sharma explained in detail that the working of Mobile Telephone System under BSNL is quite out of gear. Even after continuous efforts one can not establish contact on the desired mobile number. This puts all the mobile users in a very grave and tense situation when they can not talk to the desired people. It is unfortunate, said Sharma, that the premier mobile services provider is complacent about its working while the private players in the field are doing comparably efficient work. This reflects very poorly on a prestigious body like BSNL which should be responsive and accountable to all the mobile users. Sharma appealed to the BSNL authorities to set their house in order and make their services the best in the field. If BSNL does not provide services as expected from it and keep the users as helpless hostages to the system it will loose its creditability and will suffer great in consequence, opined Sharma.
