| Romesh inspects developmental works in Kathua | | | Jammu, December 3 Minister of state for Public Health Engineering, Industries and commerce Dr. Romesh Sharma has said that Government is committed to provide portable drinking water to all far-flung and uncovered areas of the state before 2009 under Bharat Nirman Programme, The Minister said this while interacting with people during his visit to various areas of Kathua district. The Minister inspected head works on the Ujj Barge at Lakhanpur and instructed the engineers to ensure that the farmers of the area would get adequate supply of water to irrigate their agricultural lands. He said that state government would take up the matter regarding the dispute with Punjab government so that necessary repairs be taken up at the Head of the barge. The minister also visited Ramnagar and cheria Gandyal villages and addressed public meetings. Minister gave a detailed resume of the works taken up in the area and sought the cooperation of public in ensuring use of quality material at all projects. Later, he took stock of the ongoing works in the area. The minister issued on spot directions to the PHE department to repair damaged pipe lines in the area to ensure supply of drinking water to all the habitations. Responding to the demands of people Minister assured that the desliting of all canals would be completed during the current year. |
