JAMMU, Sept 1: Shiv Sena leader Ashok Gupta today strongly assailed Omar Abdullah for twitting about amnesty in favour Afzal Guru. He called him a "Twitter Boy" and said his statement must be condemned by the people in strongest words.
Omar must tender unconditional apology, or resign as he had lost credibility to continue as chief minister, Gupta asserted while addressing Shiv Sena and Dogra Front activists here.
As mark of protest against Omar's remarks on social networking site Twitter, Shiv Sena and Dogra Front activists also took out a march, which passed through the main bazars of the city.
"Indian Democracy can survive only if legislators act in a responsible manner. The resolution by Tamil Nadu is unwarranted, undesirable, unethical and unconstitutional. It is a deliberate attempt to encourage those who have waged war against India," Gupta said. Gupta warned Omar not to act in a manner which encouraged anti-national elements. A person who ought to redress the complaints of state residents was behaving like a "weeping boy" of 5th standard, whose parents did not pay heed to his unjustified demands.
Shiv Sena would also expose Congress silence over the issue, he said. He held the view that Omar's "ek inch zameen nahin denge" remarks made by him in the parliament had allegedly led to loss of 14 valuable lives in 2008 during the two-month long Amarnath land agitation.
