Sham inspects dev works at Akhnoor, stress on use of quality material | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 01- Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma, today conducted a tour to Akhnoor Block and inspected pace of progress on various development projects being executed in Akhnoor and adjoining areas. Director Horticulture, Mr. Jiya Lal Sharma, Director Floriculture Mr. K. K. Sharma, Chief Medical Officer Mr. Baldev Raj Sharma, officers from PWD (R&B), Health and other concerned departments accompanied the Minister. The Minister inspected the construction work of Government Ayurvedic Medical College cum Hospital at Akhnoor being constructed by J&K Housing Board to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 23 crore. Expressing satisfaction over the progress of work on the Hospital, the Minister asked the executing agency to use quality material and complete the project within stipulated time frame. He also inspected progress of work on General Nursing and Mid Wifery School coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 5 crore. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the coalition government is working hard to provide all basic amenities to the people of the State at their doorsteps adding that UPA government headed by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is providing liberal funding to the State so that the development profile of the state could be transformed to a new outlook. At Bharda-Kalan, Bhalwal Brahmana and Nud, the Minister visited the public parks and asked the Floriculture authorities to plant more and more medicinal plants in the park. The Minister also visited Government Degree College Akhnoor and reviewed the progress on construction of 4 Lecture halls and 1 canteen in the premises of the college coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 85 lakh under Special Plan Assistant (SPA). He directed the executing agencies to complete the project in time. Principal, Prof Dr. Kaushal Samotra, informed the Minister about the activities and requirement of the college. The Minister asked the Principal to use college revenue and other funds for repair and maintenance of the building. Later, the Minister inspected Primary Health Centre at Sohal, Akhnoor constructed under NRHM.
