Team of Martial Art to represent country in Turkey | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar September 01- The Martial Art players today presented superb and mesmerised performances at Indoor stadium. On the occasion of farewell function organised in honour of Martial Art players, who shall be representing the country in Turkey games. Director General of Police, Mr. Kuldip Khoda, Director Information, Mr. Renzushah, IGP Traffic, Mr. H. K. Lohia, Secretary, J&K State Sports Council, Mr. Kiran Wattal and famous Bollywood singer, Mr. Kailash Kher, Mr Feroz Mir, President Wushu Martial Art, Mr Bhardwaj, , Mr Afzal, Mr Bashir Ahmad, Mr Handoo and other sports personalities were also present on the occasion. The superb performances of the Chinese Martial Art and the Wushu Art enthralled the jam packed audience. The speakers complimented the organizers and felicitated the bollywood singer, Kailash Kher. They were unanimous to say that Martial Arts are gaining popularity not only in J&K but in the entire country. They said the time has come to patronize all kinds of martial arts so that the youth participating in such games are properly encouraged enabling them to fetch laurels for the country as well as State. Keeping in view Eid festivities and in presence of large number of youth, Mr Kailash Kher entertained the audience with sufi songs. The people appreciated the gesture of renowned bollywood singer for presenting sufi songs based on mutual love and brotherhood. A three week National Wushu Coaching camp 2011 was inaugurated on August 12, 2011 at Gulmarg. The event was organised by Wushu Association of J&K under the aegis of Wushu Association of India with the active cooperation of J&K State Sports Council. The said camp was inaugurated by Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Mr. R S Chib and Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir. As many as 60 players from across the country, including supporting staff were the part of the high altitude coaching camp. Mr Kuldeep Handoo & Rajesh Kumar Tailor were the Coaches in the camp & both will escort the Indian Contingent to Istanbul, Turkey. Twenty players were short listed for the participation in the forth coming 11th World Wushu Championship, which will be held at Istanbul, Turkey from 5th -15th Oct 2011. Secretary, J&K State Sports Council, Mr Kiran Wattal briefed about the role of development of sports activities in the state & also expressed pride over the patronage of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, President, J&K State Sports Council & R S Chib, Sports Minister/ vice-president J&K State Sports Council. He said that for the first time in the history of the J&K State Sports Council, 2 teams, one of Table Tennis which will represent India in the London Olympics, 2012 & one Wushu Arts will represent India in the 11th World Championship got selected by their respective federations in our state. The State Sports Council welcome this exercise & proud that the both sports federations selected our State / department for the said selection process.
