Instrumentation Lab facility inaugurated in JU | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Sep 2: A centrally sponsored Instrumentation Lab facility was inaugurated in the Department of Chemistry, University of Jammu, the funding for which was accorded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under FIST-2009 Programme, sanctioned in favour of the Department of Chemistry. Varun Sahni, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, was the chief guest. He congratulated the faculty members and research scholars of the Department upon creating of a world class facility and expressed satisfaction at the ongoing research programmes of the Science Departments in general and Chemistry Department in particular. Instrumentation worth about 1 crore, such as Bio Assay Lab, Cyclic Voltameter, Multifrequency Ultrasonic Interferometer, Thermal Analyser, FTIR-Spectrophotometer, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Microwave Synthesizer and Particle Size Analyser, is housed in the newly constructed lab under temperature controlled, dust free and power controlled conditions. Meena Sharma, Head, Department of Chemistry, thanked all those present for their participation and invited all the science scholars of the region to utilize the facilities now made available in the Department of Chemistry. The event was attended by officials and heads of the various Science Departments.
