Non-camp residents resent editorial of English daily | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 2: A meeting of the Non-camp residents of the migrant colonies of Jammu was held the other day. According to a press handout released by Ramesh Pandita, the members as well as the migrant community at large have expressed their great resentment over the Editorial which appeared in a local English daily on August 31, regarding Prime Minister's package. The members were of the view that while on one hand the government headed by Omar Abdullah, are taking effective steps for the honourable return of the migrants back to Valley, but unfortunately some wrong messages are being sent through the print media regarding the return of Kashmiri Pandits. The migrants have greatly appreciated the role and help extended by the majority community during the recent Khir Bhawani Mela and showering of flowers over the procession taken out during Janamashtami celebrations in the valley by Muslim brethren speaks itself regarding the majority communities desire to see Kashmiri Pandits back in the Valley. The migrants are further encouraged by the fact that Kashmiri Pandit youths employed in the Valley were extended all help and greeted by the majority. This can be seen from the fact that none of these migrant youths were harassed despite the fact that Valley had witnessed large scale disturbances during last year. Moreover the smooth conduct of recent Shri Amar Nath Yatra and cooperation and assistance extended to the pilgrims by the Muslim brethren and the government speaks volumes about the sea change in the mindset of the people and their good will towards Hindus due to which the pilgrims have crossed more than 6.50 lacs mark this year.
