SRINAGAR, Sep 2:
To avoid confrontation, state Government has formally invited its employees for negotiations on Saturday over the demand of release of sixth pay commission arrears, enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 and regularization of adhoc employees, official sources told KNS.
“On behalf of Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather, the Commissioner Secretary Finance, Sudhanshu Pandey called both the heads of EJAC Abdul Qayoom Wani and Khurshid Aalam on Friday and invited them to Civil Secretariat for negotiations on Saturday evening,” sources told KNS.
Various employee unions in the state under the banner of Joint Consultative Committee have called for a three day strike from September 6 against what they call government’s backtracking of promises made with them from time to time.
The employees are demanding release of arrears of sixth pay commission, enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years and regularization of adhoc employees.
Talking to KNS Abdul Qayoom Wani confirmed that he received a call from the government for a meeting. “We will go there with open mind. But if the government continues with its dilly dally tactics, we will intensify our agitation,” he threatened.
Asked whether the strike calendar announced by them for 3-days stands canceled in the backdrop of government offer, Wani said, “There is no change in the already announced programme. As per the already announced programme employees will march towards Civil Secretariat on September 8.”
Sources told KNS that the government is willing to release sixth pay commission arrears in instalments.
Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Taj Mohi-ud-Din told KNS that government was always ready to fulfill the ‘genuine’ demands of the employees. “Whatever is possible we will do. But they (employees) should also consider our problems,” Taj said.
