Rs 1000-crore package for K youth and JKNPP & BJP | Jammu Against Discrimination | | MINCING NO WORDS NEHA JAMMU, Sep 2: It was a week ago that the Congress-led UPA Government, at the behest of anti-Jammu Kashmiri leadership, inaugurated Rs 1000-crore training-cum-placement package for the Kashmiri youth. The stated objective of the authorities was to keep the Kashmiri youth away from separatism. The package was nothing but a deliberate move to appease those opposing the institution of the state and fighting for Pakistan and a communal regime designed to enslave and loot and plunder the already rather exploited and discriminated against Dogras, Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs included. It was premium on secessionist and communal violence. How else should one interpret that package that rigorously excluded the suffering youth of Duggar Pradesh and Ladakh. The rate of unemployment in Duggar Pradesh is over 69 per cent, as against less than 30 per cent in Kashmir. Out of a total of approximately 4.5 lakh positions in the government and semi-government establishments in the state, Kashmir occupies more than three lakh positions. In fact, it is Kashmir that has swamped the vital service sector. It was expected that the so-called Jammu-centric parties like the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) and the BJP would bring off a coup against the authorities in order to attract their attention towards the miserable plight of the Dogra youth as well as Ladakhi youth and force the authorities to invoke the principle of justice and equity so that the Dogra and the Ladakhi youth also obtain what is their legitimate due share in the package. It turned out to be a false hope. As expected, both the JKNPP and the BJP remained engrossed in petty politicking to grind their personal axes and left their constituencies in Duggar Pradesh to the lurch. No activity on the part of the JKNPP and the BJP to ensure the inclusion of the Dogra and Ladakhi youth in the just-inaugurated package once again established that they have no regard whatever for the neglected and marginalized Dogra youth and that their sole objective is to please the Kashmiri leadership for personal reasons. Their indifferent attitude also established that these two formations do not want to take cudgels with the Congress-led UPA Government, which has been evolving discriminatory policies and enforcing the same ruthlessly to humiliate the Dogra youth and further appease the already rather appeased Kashmir. Leave aside a couple of very vague and disappointing statements issued by these two parties to remain in the focus – an exercise that has not in anyway pleased the humbled Dogra youth. Rather, these statements have only angered the Dogras. The negative attitude of the JKNPP and the BJP has only helped the Kashmiri leadership and New Delhi to further the cause of the already privileged Kashmiri youth and made the Dogras lose their faith in these two parties. The Dogras have no love lost for the Congress, the NC and the PDP because they are out-and-out Valley-centric parties. They had some faith in the JKNPP and the BJP but that faith today stands shattered. It is for the JKNPP and the BJP leadership to retrospect and redesigned their approach towards the neglected Dogras. In fact, if these two parties are to remain somewhat relevant in Duggar Pradesh they have no other option but to ape the Kashmiri leadership and show New Delhi its rightful place so that Duggar Pradesh attains the status it rightfully deserves as part and parcel of the Indian polity.
