Angered by absence of teachers, sarpanch locks govt school in Rajouri | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, Sept 02: Angered by the alleged absence of teachers in government middle school at Sabzi in Darhal area here, the village sarpanch today locked the instiution. Following alleged reports that no teacher had come to the school for the past one week, Sabzi sarpanch, Choudhary Ghulam Qadir went there at about 11.30 am today. He claimed that there was no teacher in the school as a result of which he locked the building and came back home. Chief education officer (CEO), Rajouri , Makhan Lal, however, said the sarpanch had crossed the limits by interfering in the school affairs. “I have directed the concerned zonal education officer to report to him the factual position,” he added. Talking to this correspondent over phone, Qadir said during hisvisit to the school at about 11.30 am, he found it locked. He then put another lock on the door, he asserted. He alleged that the teachers had not come to the school for the past one week. The sarpanch’s action was widely hailed by the villagers who emphasized the need for ensuring teachers’ daily presence in the school.
