Alleged negligence of police? | Second attempt to suicide in court premises | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 2: The negligence on part of the police has led to another attempt to suicide by an under trial for the second consecutive day inside court premises. An under trial Surinder Kumar son of Madan Lal of Katra made an attempt to commit suicide by cutting veins of his right arm in court premises. Surinder, who was lodged in Kot Bhalwal jail, was charged for committing murder. The handcuffed under trial was taken to court for hearing by policemen when he in a bid to end his life cut his veins with a sharp edged weapon. He was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) where he received 23 stitches on his arm. Police is investigating how and from where he managed the weapon. Earlier, a day before this incident, an undertrial attempted suicide by consuming some poisonous substance inside the court premises . “The undertrial identified as Jagjit Singh, son of Teja Singh, resident of Upper Gadigarh, who was lodged in district jail Ambphalla for hatching a criminal conspiracy, consumed poisonous substance to end his life when he was produced in the court for hearing,” police said. He was immediately shifted to the Police Hospital from where he was referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu. "We are investigating the matter from where he managed the poison," a police official said.
