AJKMPJ demand opening of sanctioned college at Joura Khurd
9/3/2011 9:57:45 PM
EARLY TIMES
Jammu, Sep 3: All J&K Movement for Peace and Justice (AJKMPJ) Block Thathri in a meeting held under the Chairmanship of Kuldeep Kumar Rao, at Joura Khurd appealed to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, the Minister for higher Education A.G. Malik, M.L.A Bhadarwah, M.S Naiz Sahib, M.L.A Inderwal G.M.Saroori & M.L.C Naresh Gupta to select the site of the college sanctioned for Tehsil Thathri at some central place (other then any on or near the Thathri-Doda National Highway) so that it is accessible to all the students of the remote rural areas of the Tehsil who constitute nearly 80% of the of student population.
In this regard the public suggests that either Halaran or Joura Khurd are the most centrally located places. But as in Joura Khurd there is available a stretch of government land more than 60 kanals in measurement and more than 50 kanals adjoining private land is also easily available as the owners have willingly offered to sell it though they are not having much land. They are ready to do so only with the feeling of service to the community. Joura Khurd would be the most suitable place. The villages from Malanoo to Joura from Chirra-Nandana-Kathawa to Joura and from Panshaee-Chiralla to Joura constitute 80% population of the Tehsil and students from all these places can reach it even on foot. If the site is approved, it will really be like a second Shanti Niketan. The place has been visited & praised by Ex. Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad when in 2009 he was on tour to the area.
Those people who suggest Jangalwar, Bhella or Thathri as the site for college ignore the following facts either ignorantly or willingly, If college is opened at either of the two places, only 20% population will be benefited, the people of Jangalwar want to convert the existing Higher Secondary School into a college; they are not willing to give even an inch of extra land. Same is the case with Bhela & Thathri. How can a college function in such a small place?
The meeting was attended by Anil Kumar (Chairman Block Thathri), Bisher Ahmed Batt, Vice Chairman, Ramtulla Batt, (Block President), Ashok Kumar, Sr. Vice President, Subash Chander General Secretary, Surjeet Singh Secretary, Neezam Din, Jt.Secretary, Kulwant Singh and Nazir Ahmed.
