Bovine smuggling through Mughal Road

Surankote: Although Mughal Road is yet to be opened for passenger traffic, bovine smuggling through the historic route has assumed alarming proportions.
According to reports, large number of bovine animals from twin border district to Kashmir Valley. The residents said a gang responsible for theft and subsequent smuggling to Kashmir Valley was operating in the area. They have sought a check post at Pir Gali to stop smuggling in future.
Police also admitted smuggling of bovine animals. An FIR has been registered and investigations are on. Around 31 bovine smugglers have been arrested by the police and more than 70 animals have been recovered for the past 10 days.
