Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 3: Finding fault with State Government's return formula which was on the agenda of today's Apex Committee meeting Sanjay Saraf, Senior leader Lok JanShakti Party and one of the members of Apex Committee abstained from its meeting.
Saraf who is close aide of LJP national Chief and former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has accused The Government on thrusting the return formula on displaced Pandits.
Saraf while criticizing the return formula said that ground situation is not conducive for return of Pandits to valley and he does not want to become a party to such a move which will be tantamountal to the interests of the community. "I have always advocated for return of Pandits to Kashmir Valley but in this regard confidence building measures were to be established with majority community. So far nothing has been done by Government in this regard hence any move of return without taking both the communities into confidence", he added.
He said ground situation continues to be fluid in Kashmir and no steps were till date taken to restore the confidence of minority Pandits who were forced to flee due to onslaught of gun. Moreover being an Apex Committee member I am answerable to community tomorrow. There are no facilities for migrant employees who already joined their duties in valley. Four to five persons are sharing accommodation. Many quarters are unallotted at Sheikpora and the Government has turned down the request of allotting these quarters to displaced employees who are living in shared accommodations. Till confidence building measures are not taken among the displaced Pandits any formula on return will prove a failure, he added.
It may be recalled that another Apex committee member Vinod Pandit had already resigned from its membership in protest against the failure of Government to respect the aspirations of the community.
