`Sponsored story on Pre-53 status misleading’ | Old wine in new bottles | | Early Times Report NEW DELHI, Sept 3: Sheikh family sponsored story in a New Delhi based newspaper has evoked critical reaction. Some quarters have described it as `mischievous, misleading and concocted'. The Newspaper has been sympathetic to the Sheikh family ever since Sher-e-Kashmir was dethroned and arrested in 1953. Mardullah Sarabai connection has guided the newspaper's Kashmir policy, said an analyst. The story has also been perceived as a threat to the unity, integrity and sovereignty of India vis-à-vis J&K. Pre-53 status hits hard at IAS and IPS cadre, bidding goodbye to the Supreme Court and the Election Commission of India. This can provide the much needed oxygen to the collapsing body of National Conference which has been ruling the state by using the crutches of the Congress. The most critical reaction has come from the Panthers Party. According to them, 'Reorganization of J&K', was the only resolution acceptable to all the regions of the state. "What interlocutors would say or write or recommend cannot override or surpass the aspirations of the people of Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu. The Reorganization has totally been blacked out by the sponsors of the story in the sponsored story knowing well that the people of Jammu and Ladakh would no longer accept the supremacy of Kashmir Valley", said a spokesman of the party. He added that the only solution lies in distributing the legislative, financial and administrative authority to the people of Ladakh, Kashmir Valley and Jammu so that all the three regions shall enjoy equity and equal opportunity. Solution lies Reorganization of the State and nor Pre-53 or Pre-47 status. Earlier Abdullahs rule comes to an end better it shall be for the people of all the three regions to live in human dignity, peace and development", he said. |
