| JAMMU Air Force Station adjudged best transport, helicopter base | | | JAMMU DECEMBER 03 The "Sentinels of J&K", the Air Force Station Jammu has always been at the forefront of disaster relief operations, be it earthquake or snow tsunami or flash floods in the State or any part of the country. Over the years, the foresight to plan for impending calamities and their unique ability to reach the remotest areas expediently has been fine tuned to a nicety. From evacuation of stranded troops and civilians from snow bound areas in Kashmir to the maintenance of lifeline for the world’s highest battlefield in Siachen Glacier, the air warriors have always been in the forefront. Air Force Station Jammu, with trailblazing record and unique history, replete with diverse examples of fighters, transporters, helicopters and even UAV operations in its annals alike. It continues to grow from strength to strength on the able shoulders of its valiant air warriors with a focus on future and unbridled zeal to touch the sky with glory. Under the able leadership of present Station Commander Group Captain JS Kler, the Air Force Station added many more feathers on its cap during last one year. Various projects, developmental and welfare activities were planned and executed in the station with an aim to enhance the operational capabilities and quality of life of the Station personnel. In the recently concluded Air Force Commanders’ Conference at Western Air Command Headquarters at New Delhi, the Air Force Station Jammu has been awarded with the best Transport and Helicopter base, and overall second best Station runners up trophy among 45 Air Force Stations of the Western Air Command by Air Chief Marshal SP Tyagi Chief of the Air Staff. The Station also bagged best Air Force School trophy in Senior Secondary category and also a gold medal for implementation of Rashtra Bhasha (Hindi) in Western Air Command.
