NMC demands release of pending DA installment | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, September 4: National Mazddor Conference President Subash Shastri urged the Prime minister to announce the pending installment of 7% DA due from July last in favour of both Central and state Government employees and pensioners in the next union cabinet meeting being held next week in view of steep rise in prices of essential commodities Addressing a largely attended NMC workers rally Sharstri said that with price rise and inflation, the salaried class is facing a lot of economic hardships, adding that the release of DA would be a genuine measure to provide some relief to them. Pleading the cause of State Government employees and pensioners, Shastri also demanded a special package of five thousand crore of Jammu and Kashmir for fully funding expenditure for implement of 6th pay commission\ recommendations in favour of state Government employees and pensioners. Hopping that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh would liberal funding to Jammu and Kashmir as in the past so that the Government is able to carry forward speedily its agenda. Shastri said that with price and inflation with every salaried class is facing lot of economic hardships, adding that raising income tax exemption limit for 1.80 lacs to 3.00 lacs would be genuine measure to provide some relief to them. Shastri appreciated Chief Minister for taking keen interest in addressing the demands of salaried class and urged for resolving other demands at the earliest he said implementation of the report between the Government and the employees. Other demands highlighted by Shastri on the occasion included release of wages of motivators working in IWDP besides their regularization, issuance of orders of 180 daily wagers working in rural development continue of services of casual labour , regularization of the services of daily wages workers, enhancement in the wages of daily wagers form rupees 125 to Rs 200 per day and declare Jammu and Srinagar cities as B- 1 City. Among others who also spoke on the occasion which included Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Com, Barkat Ram, Girdhari Lal Bhagat, Surinder etc.
