Pathania calls for a massive civilian initiative in Ramnagar | | | Early Times Report MAJALTA, September 4: While addressing a series of public meetings at parts of Majalta and Ramnagar, R S Pathania, senior vice-president, J&K Pradesh Youth Congress, has called for a civilian initiative in Ramnagar assembly segment as the centrally sponsored schemes like PMGSY, UIDSSMT, RGGVY, MGNREGA, IHSDP, IAY, SSA, NRHM, NABARD and ADB-funded projects, IWDP, etc. and working of various departments has been worst affected by political interferences and worst favouritism and nepotism. Hundreds of crores have been pumped in Ramnagar but true goods of the schemes have not percolated upto the grassroot level. The beneficiaries of these schemes are being selected on political considerations thereby debarring the actually-deserving people of their true benefits. The dogma of ‘single-line administration’ has given fullest power to legislators to disuse as well as misuse the operation of these centrally sponsored schemes and use them for petty political gains and vote-bank politics. Scores of more- deserving BPL families in BPL category have been debarred of electrification under RGGVY. The selection of beneficiaries under IHSDP, IAY, NRHM in Ramnagar has left out more deserving people. The dream projects of Government of India, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and NRHM, have been utter failures in Ramnagar. While executing ADB-funded project of double-laning of Roun-Ramnagar road, the construction agency is executing totally sub-standard and lackadaisical work and sub-letting works under political pressure against the norms. The gospels of ‘good governance’ and ‘equity, justice and fair play’ have been but reduced to a reference slip or favourable telephonic call by the local MLA. Pathania further said that formulation of an all-party political consensus at the national capital on demands of veteran Gandhian, Anna Hazara and victory of his unique struggle for a corruption-free society has transcended a very loud and clear signal that decision-making and policy-making are not the exclusive domain of the law-makers.
