GS XI wins in U-19 women’s T20 tourney | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 04: The GS XI today registered a big 66 runs win over district Kathua to move into the next round of the ongoing women’s under-19 (Twenty20) cricket tournament, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here. Batting first after winning the toss, GS XI set a target of 163 runs for the loss of three wickets, which, in reply, Kathua girls could not chase the total and bowled for 96 runs in 16.1 overs. Heena played brilliant innings of 54-ball 64 runs hitting two boundaries while Neharika and Heena Kousar contributed 14 and 11 runs respectively. From Kathua, Sheetal and Pooja bagged one wicket each. Later, Kathua girls never looked in a winning mode and the whole side bowled out for 96 runs in 16.1 overs thereby lost the match by 66 runs. No Kathua girl could touch the double figure mark. Pooja remained top scorer with seven runs coming off 30 deliveries. Heena Kousar, was most successful bowler from GS XI, who claimed three wickets for just five runs in three overs while Sarla Devi and Heena Mehra contributed two wickets each. Today’s match was officiated by Suresh Singh and Madan Lal while Satika Sharma was scorer.
