JWAM opposes autonomy, self-rule proposals | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 4: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) on Sunday staged a demonstration against the state and the central governments for their reported move to consider the self-rule and autonomy formulas as viable solution to Kashmir problem. Workers led by JWAM president Sunil Dimple assembled at New Plot and chanted anti-UPA slogans, alleging that it had failed to solve the decades-long Kashmir imbroglio.
He also took a dig at the political leaders for making “confusing” statements and alleged that it was being done to appease the separatist elements in Kashmir valley. He also criticised the state government’s decision to grant general amnesty to Kashmiri youth who were arrested for “stone pelting” and “violence” in Kashmir Valley last year.
“The government was trying to implement autonomy and self-rule proposal in Jammu and Kashmir. We strongly oppose the autonomy and self-rule proposals made by the ruling National Conference and the Opposition Peoples Democratic Party respectively,” Dimple told reporters. He also asked the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his father Farooq Abdullah, who is the patron of National Conference, to clear their stand on the death sentence to parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. |
