EP tenants urge CM to fulfil pending demands | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sep 4:Evacuees Property Tenants Welfare Society’s general body meeting was held her today which was attended by large number of tenants, office bearers and the members. On the occasion Inder Mohinder Tar Singh who recently sat on three day long fast in support of tenants demands was felicitated. Singh while addressing the members said that he is thankful to all the tenants, members and non-members for their support and wishes without which it was not possible to go on fast. We have registered our just cause and this is a beginning, a good beginning and if government does not consider our demands and do the needful then he can go on another fast to press on the authorities to give us ownership rights on E.P and B.C houses, Tar maintained. Further, he said that a letter has already been dispatched to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and we are awaiting the response of the same. He informed that the points which were highlighted in the letter include the safety of the E P Houses as they are in dilapidated condition, the poor tenants do not have sufficient funds to undertake the repair, those who can afford do not get permission to repair their houses, the permission be granted and the cost of the repair be adjusted in the rent. Tar urged upon young Chief Minister to waste no time and fulfill our demands so that thousands and thousands of tenants get relief and become free. We are hopeful that the same shall sympathize with helpless tenants, who are victimized by the Custodian Department. The Custodian department should be wind up as it has already been done in other states of India.
