Mufti stresses for job oriented courses | | | EARLY TIMES Srinagar Sep5: PDP patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed today visited south Kashmir’s Anantnag district to have an assessment of the developmental work going on. Mufti Sayeed visited the Degree College Anantnag and interacted with the teaching faculty and students. While addressing the teaching staff and administration, Mufti suggested that apart from traditional courses, Job oriented courses should also be started so that the students, after completing their degrees may get jobs easily. Courses as per market demand should be introduced so that our student may not lag behind in this competitive world. He also visited Higher Secondary School Brakpora, where he took notice of the shortage of the teaching staff. While checking the ongoing work on the construction of auditorium, he proposed to the college administration that it should be built having centrally heating system arrangement. He also paid visit to the Rani Bagh and Wazir Bagh, suggesting to officials there to maintain continuous water supply to the park. Mufti also directed the DC Anantnag to sanction more water points to the park for its beautification. He emphasized to make it sure to provide basic recreational equipment for the children park and suggested it should be extended to adjacent land area. While having an assessment of the condition of the District library Anantnag, he asked the DC to make it available all kinds of books and magazines. Beside this there must be a subscription to all the local as well as leading National newspapers. Emphasizing on the importance of libraries, Mufti said, “These are the store house of knowledge and wisdom. It has immense socio-cultural importance as well. To have rich libraries is the building block of great civilizations”. Taking notice of the shortage of staff, he emphasized that the local educated youth should be employed for its proper functioning. Similar suggestions were given for the District college library. Expressing dissatisfaction over the pace of ongoing work on the district hospital, Mufti took a serious notice of the slow pace of work. The concerned officials intimated that the project was due to complete within two years, but because of lack of funds it couldn’t meet the deadline. The project was estimated at a cost of 59 crore and during the first phase about 120 rooms should have been completed. But nothing is completed as yet. He said “The common man suffers a lot because of the non serious attitude of the present government towards development especially providing the basic amenities.”
