| Walkovers dominate opening day of inter-college badminton | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 05: With only two matches in men section and three in women’s section decided, the opening day of the inter-college badminton competitions was dominated by the walkovers at Gymnasium Hall of the University of Jammu (JU), here today.
In men’s category, Government Degree College Paloura and Government Degree College Udhampur won their respective matches to move into the next round of the event.
While Paloura College defeated Government Degree College Reasi 3-1, Udhampur College trounced Government Degree College Akhnoor 3-0.
Similarly, in women’s section, Government Degree College Kathua, Mahant Bachiter Singh College of Engineering and Technology and Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar won their respective matches.
Earlier, the competitions were declared open by Director Sports and Physical Education, JU, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau who was chief guest. He interacted with the participants and conveyed his best wishes to them. Among others present were Director Physical Education of participating colleges and teacher incharge.

WOMEN: GDC Ramnagar got walkover GDC Bhaderwah; GDC (W) Udhampur got walkover GDC Thanamandi; Trikuta Degree College got walkover GDC Akhnoor; GDC R S Pura got walkover GDC Poonch; GDC Kathua bt GDC Hira Nagar 2-0; MBSCET bt GDC Reasi 2-0; GCW Gandhi Nagar bt SRS 2-0; SPMR College of Commerce got walkover PG Law.
