J&K witnesses increase in literacy rate

SRINAGAR Sept 5: Describing teaching fraternity architects of future, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that development of high quality human resource is in the hands of teachers.
“It is up to you to groom younger generation and give the state capable, educated and responsible human force to lead in all spheres of life with confidence and ability” he told teachers asking them to deliver their noble service to the society. Speaking to a large gathering of teachers and students on Teacher’s Day at SKICC here, the Chief Minister reiterated his stressed on making health and education conflicts neutral.
Omar said that it is the duty of all of us to keep education away from all conflicts, disturbances and politics to safeguard the future of the State. He said that losses on development fronts can be retrieved but the gaps occurring in education remain unfilled for ever adding that students should receive education in conducive and peaceful environment to seek knowledge and attain excellence.
Chief Minister said that the losses in studies of the students last year due to law and order situation gave severe jolt to their education which cannot be repaired. “Same is the case of a patient who could not get the treatment for his ailment due to disturbances and suffered irreversible loss on health count” he added.
Congratulating teachers on the Teachers’ Day, Omar Abdullah reminded them of their responsibility towards nurturing the students which in turn nurtures the interests of the society and the State. Chief Minister said that the demands of teaching fraternity are under the active consideration of the government and every possible measure would be taken to address these.
However, he underlined the duty of teachers in keeping schools free from all disturbances and rendering service with fullest degree of responsibility. On the demands of employees about arrears etc, the Chief Minister said that the conflicting approach is in no way a healthy step to get grievances redressed and find out solution to the issues.
Advisor to the Chief Minister Mubarak Gul, Commissioner/ Secretary to Education Naseema Lanker, Directors of School Education Department Kashmir and Jammu, and President Teachers Form Abdul Qayoom were present among others.
