5 kg heroine valuing Rs 22 crore seized, two held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU: Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police today recovered five packets of heroin from two notorious narcotic smugglers, informed sources said. They said that the SOG team supervised by SP operation Pawan Parihar laid a naka late last night at Gigyral Morh in Khore of Akhnoor. During the naka, SOG men sitting in Scorpio intercepted a motorbike and two suspected persons were picked up, on specific inputs about their involvement in smuggling narcotics. They were identified as Mangal Singh and Ravinder Singh both relatives and residents of Akhnoor. Sources, however, said that taking advantage of darkness, both the persons tried to flee from the custody. "Mangal escaped from the custody, while Ravinder was caught hold by the SOG men with the help of villagers after a chase late last night," sources said. Mangal was arrested in late hours, sources said. Sources said Ravinder was being interrogated in the custody, following which he disclosed the name of their accomplice identified as Billawar Singh (17). Acting on the discloser in custody, sources said, the SOG team raided the residence of Billawar and arrested him. "He was put to sustained interrogation during he broke down and disclosed that they have hide five packets of heroin somewhere in Akhnoor. Police, on his discloser, recovered the consignment of narcotics," sources said. |
