Choudhury assumes charge of Air Force station | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Sept 6 (KNS): Air Commodore D Choudhury assumed command of Air Force Station here from Air Commodore Upkarjit Singh on September 5. According to a defence spokesman Choudhury VM VSM was commissioned in Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot on 22 December 1983. “He has a vast experience in fighter operations and is qualified on MiG-21, MiG-23/27, MiG-29, SU-30K and SU-30Mk I. He is also a Fighter Combat Leader and an Instrumental Rating Instructor and Examiner. He has commanded a fighter squadron, was the Chief Operations Officer of a frontline fighter wing and has held various staff appointments at Air HQ,” he said. Choudhury is an alumni of the Royal College of Defence Studies in UK. He has received a Commendation by the Chief of Air Staff and has been awarded Vayu Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal. Vyjayanthi Choudhury assumed the mantle of President Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Local) and is responsible for the welfare of the families of the Air Warriors of the Air Force Station Srinagar, the spokesman said.
