HC directs govt to consider eligible mechinal JEs for promotion | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 06: High court judge, Justice J P Singh today directed the state to take
requisite steps to ensure that all eligible Junior Engineers (mechanical), including the
petitioner, were considered for promotion on substantive basis against available
vacancies of assistant engineers (mechanical) expeditiously and not later than four
months. The court directive came in seven petitions, including contempt petitions, in which
petitioners sought promotion to the post of assistant engineers (mechanical) on
substantive basis. The court directed the respondents that while considering the petitioner for promotion
his status has belonging to the reserved category of social caste be also taken into
consideration as per rules. The court said the petitioner was left free to approach the state to seek
reconsideration of his placement as incharge AEE (mechanical) against OSC category
posts, pending consideration of his case for substantive promotion as assistant
engineer (mechanical) and for the release of unpaid salary. With these observations,
the court disposed of the petitions.
